Application of Problem Based Learning Model to Improve Activeness and Learning Outcomes in Basic Lessons Handling Agricultural Products

This study aims to determine the increase in student activity and learning outcomes by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This research is a classroom action research conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle is held twice in meetings starting with the stages of action planning, implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and reflection. The method of data collection is done by means of observation. Data analysis was carried out by comparing the test results in cycle 1 and cycle 2 with descriptive techniques. This means that the data obtained in this study are presented as they are and then analyzed descriptively to get an overview of the facts and describe them according to the phenomena obtained. Meanwhile, to measure the learning achievement of students using the class average system on the evaluation results of each cycle. After conducting research, the results showed that the achievements and learning activities of students in class X-E APHP SMK SPPNegeri Jambi in basic learning of handling agricultural products had increased, this was shown from: (1) The results of observing student activities obtained information that there was an increase in listening activities. from 82% to 87%, oral from 42% to 71%, emotional from 45% to 78%, visual from 55% to 70%, writing from 50% to 55%, motor from 59% to 77%, and mental from 60% to 66%. (2) The increase in the average grade from the first cycle to the second cycle increased by 31.37%, from 55.45 to 86.82. In cycle 2 the category of very high scores of students increased by 50.00%, namely from no students to 11 students.
